Running Start

Running Start is a statewide program allowing eleventh and twelfth-grade high school students to take courses at the local community college. Each college course successfully completed can earn both high school and college credit. The term ‘Running Start’ means the enrollment of an eligible student in the school district and community college or solely in the community college courses, for the purpose of earning both high school credit to be awarded by the school district, and additional college-level credit as may be awarded by the community college. (RCW 28A.600.390)

Selecting Your Classes

  1. Check your graduation requirements in Skyward to ensure you pick classes that align with your high school graduation requirements. 
  2. Meet with your BBCC advisor to select your classes. If you plan on graduating with your AA through BBCC talk with your advisor at that time. 
  3. Print a copy of your quarter schedule from your CTC.  
  4. Attend the MLHS Running Start Verification Day to have your MLHS counselor sign your Running Start Verification Form. Make sure you bring your printed copy of your schedule.
