Community Learning Opportunity: Understanding Youth Gangs – May 13

Posted Date: 5/07/25 (9:36 PM)

Dear MLSD Families

We invite you to join us for an important community learning event focused on youth gang awareness and prevention.

Understanding Youth Gangs: A Community Approach
📅 Date: Tuesday, May 13, 2025
🕕 Time: 6:00–8:00 p.m.
📍 Location: Learning Services Center, 1620 S. Pioneer Way

This event is open to all families and community members who want to better understand the challenges gang activity can bring to our area—and how we can work together to make a difference.

The session will be led by Hunter McLeod, Threat Assessment Coordinator from North Central Educational Service District, in partnership with the Grant County Sheriff’s Office and the Moses Lake Police Department. Together, they’ll provide insight into:

  • The types of gangs active in Grant County
  • Recognizable behaviors and warning signs of gang involvement
  • Common markers of gang affiliation
  • Steps families and the broader community can take to help prevent youth gang activity
We believe that awareness is a key part of prevention. By learning more about these issues and working together, we can build a safer, stronger community for our students.

We encourage parents, guardians, caregivers, educators, and community partners to attend and be part of this important conversation.
Thank you for your commitment to student safety and well-being.
